This National Practice Guideline (NPG) from the American Society of Addiction Medicine provides evidence-based practices to improve outcomes for individuals with OUD. The document is an update to the previous NPG released in 2015 and includes major revisions to 35 existing recommendations, along with the addition of 13 new recommendations. Part 1 of the Guideline (Assessment and Diagnosis of Opioid Use Disorder) provides information about the ASAM Criteria for conducting a multidimensional assessment and determining the appropriate level of care for a given patient.
